Considering Investment Properties

Real estate investments can be an important part of a client’s portfolio of assets. We help our clients evaluate whether or not they should purchase an investment property. Key questions clients should consider are: Do they want to become a landlord? Should they hire a property manager? What type of mortgage is appropriate? We also address other issues that will arise later in the lifecycle of owning an investment property, such as: What is the tax impact of selling the property? How should the proceeds from a sale be invested? Is a like-kind exchange (1031 exchange) — a swap of one investment property for another — recommended? B|O|S advises in real estate investment as part of our commitment to understanding our clients’ complete financial picture.
